MORE INFORMATION ABOUT BOTSWANA

While visiting Botswana, take the opportunity to explore what this wonderful country has to offer.

Botswana has been called "the Oaks of peace and tranquillity" of the African continent. It has a long history of political stability, low crime rate and is one of Africa?s most successful economies.

Botswana is the size of France but it?s low population density has ensured that its beautiful wilderness has remained unspoiled. Botswana is therefore in last strong hold for many critically endangered species in their natural environment. The African wild dog and cheetah are two of the more publicized critically endangered species that still roam freely in Botswana and not only in the confines of national parks and special sanctuaries.

Botswana has over 120 000 wild elephants roaming mainly in the northern parts of the country. Kasane - where the conference will be held - and neighbouring Chobe national park has the highest elephant density in the world.

The Kalahari desert is the largest sand expansion in the world that stretches from South Africa in the south over Botswana and Namibia in the middle to Angola in the north. The Kalahari covers 84% of Botswana. Many travellers has come back to the Kalahari to experience the cloud formations and sunsets over and again because it nurture the soul in a way that nowhere else can.

Within this sand expansion lies the worlds largest inland delta: the Okavango. The Okavango delta has been blessed with breath taking landscapes that include lagoons, lakes, hidden channels and a diversity of plant and wild life. The rain water from Angola reaches the Okavango flood plains in the dry season. This water cycle is the life line for the large herds of wild life that migrate to this area when the summer rain and associated water sources dry up in winter time.

The bird life diversity is unequalled; from African skimmers, pelicans and storks to raptors and seed eaters.

The Chobe; Kalahari and Okavango delta is a must feel, see and experience for everyone.
